Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

We collect the conversation and communication information you share with us — for example, the messages, requests, and details you provide when you contact us, book a service, or apply to join as a technician. This can include your name, contact details, service address, and the content of your requests.

If you are a technician and choose to connect your Google Calendar, we also access certain Google Calendar data, as described in Section 2 below.

2. Google Calendar Integration and Google User Data

Connecting a Google Calendar is optional and happens only with a technician’s explicit authorization through Google’s consent screen.

What we access. We request the Google Calendar permission calendar.events (view and edit events on the technician’s calendars), together with basic profile information (openid, email) used only to identify the connected Google account. Although this permission can cover any calendar the technician has access to, Smart Trade uses it only on the technician’s primary calendar.

How we use it. We use this access only to: (a) read the technician’s existing calendar events so we can display their busy times as read-only blocks in the Smart Trade scheduling interface, which prevents double-booking; and (b) create, update, and delete Smart Trade job, schedule, and approved-leave events on the technician’s own calendar. Smart Trade remains the source of truth for the events it creates.

What we do not do. We do not use Google user data for advertising. We do not sell it. We do not share or transfer it to third parties except as necessary to provide this feature (for example, infrastructure providers acting on our behalf) or as required by law.

Limited Use. Smart Trade’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to respond to you, provide and improve our services, and process your requests, bookings, or applications.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf to operate the service (such as hosting, payment, and email providers), and only as needed to provide the service or comply with the law.

5. Data Retention & Security

Security. We protect your information using industry-standard safeguards. Data is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS and encrypted at rest. Access to personal information and Google user data is restricted to authorized personnel who need it to operate the service, and is protected by authentication and access controls.

Retention. We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes described above. Google Calendar event data, and the OAuth access and refresh tokens that allow access to it, are retained only while the integration remains connected. When a technician disconnects their Google Calendar account or deletes their account, we delete the stored Google Calendar event data and the OAuth access and refresh tokens immediately.

Deletion. You can revoke Smart Trade’s access at any time from your Google Account permissions page (myaccount.google.com/permissions), and you may contact us to request deletion of your data.

6. Your Choices

You may contact us at any time to ask what information we hold, or to request that we update or delete it. Technicians can disconnect the Google Calendar integration at any time.

7. Children’s Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.

By accessing or using WaterHeater.app, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. Our Service

WaterHeater.app is a marketplace that connects homeowners and businesses with independent, vetted tradespeople. We facilitate bookings but are not the provider of the trade services themselves.

3. Your Responsibilities

You agree to provide accurate information, use the service lawfully, and treat professionals and customers respectfully.

4. Professionals

Tradespeople on WaterHeater.app are independent contractors and are subject to verification. We do not guarantee their work.

5. Pricing & Payments

Prices are shown before you confirm a booking. Any payment terms are presented at the time of booking.

6. Disclaimers

The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, WaterHeater.app is not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
